Frequently asked questions

What are Python coding games?

They're games you play by writing real Python code. In each game, you type Python to make something happen: a robot follows your steps, a shop serves customers, or a rocket lands. Here, every game teaches one idea, so playing them in order takes you from never having coded to writing complete programs.

Can I really learn Python with games if I've never coded before?

Yes. The course is written for people who know nothing about programming. Every new idea starts with a short narrated video that explains it in plain English. Then you play a game with six levels that go from changing one word to writing code on your own.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Real Python runs inside your web browser, so there's nothing to install or set up. It works on computers, tablets and phones, although a keyboard makes typing code easier.

Is it real Python, or a made-up language?

It's real Python, the same language professionals use. Everything you type is run by Python itself, and what you learn works on your own computer later.

What does it cost?

Module 1, with its three games and videos, is free, and you don't need an account to play it. Unlocking Modules 2 to 12 costs $9, once. There's no subscription, and the course is yours to replay as often as you like.

What will I be able to do at the end?

You'll understand variables, decisions, loops, functions, lists, dictionaries, files, error handling and classes. The final project is a complete text adventure that you write on your own. Finishing it unlocks a certificate of completion, and a page on what to learn next.

How long does the course take?

There are 79 lessons, and most take 15 to 30 minutes, so the whole course is roughly 30 to 40 hours. You can go as fast or as slowly as you like, and your progress is saved in your browser.

Is it suitable for kids and teenagers?

Yes, if they can read comfortably and type. The games are friendly and the language is simple. Adults who are complete beginners use exactly the same course.

What happens when my code has a mistake?

Every error is explained in plain English, right next to Python's own message, with a hint about how to fix it. Learning to read error messages is part of the course, and Module 10 teaches debugging properly.

How do I get my purchase on another device?

Log in with the same email and password on any device, and the full course is unlocked there too.
